We are excited for Skagit County and for the prospect of replacing the aging Guemes Island ferry with the first electric ferry in the country. Excell member Art Anderson Associates is partnering with EESI Marine on this exciting and groundbreaking project. The electric ferry is more expensive to purchase than a traditional ferry but it is estimated to save the county upwards of $150,000 a year in maintenance and other costs.
We will keep our eyes open and share more information about this when news becomes available. Congrats to Art Anderson! Read more about the electric ferry project in the Skagit Valley Herald.
